Irish Soda Bread Scones

When I think of St. Patrick’s Day food, I immediately think of green and mint.  I have never had any of the traditional dishes, such as Corned Beef and Cabbage.  This also includes Irish soda bread.  However, I know that my husband loves it.  So when I came across a recipe for Irish Soda Bread Scones by Brown Eyed Baker, I thought it was about time to give something not green and minty a try.

Making scones is so easy, and this recipe is no different.  I have a mini scone pan that I love using, but I stuck with making free form scones this time.

The original recipe calls for the option of putting in caraway seed, but I didn’t have any so I just left them out.  Since I’ve never had this type of bread before, I really don’t know what I was missing in the first place anyway.

Like I said, scones are very easy to make and take no time at all.  I had about 45 minutes to get these done and I did, no problem.

The smell of the scones while baking was amazing.  And they taste just as good as they smelled.  Even better warm with a little butter!

I think next I may need to try an actual Irish soda bread!

Although the recipe makes only 8 scones, I kept out just a couple and froze the rest so we can just grab one when we want.
