My New Year Resolution Update

Well it’s about time for a new blog post.  It has only been about two months!  My days aren’t long enough anymore…by the time I sit down at the end of the day, I just go to bed (after I go on Pinterest).  I really want to get back into it though and I thought I would start with an update on my new year resolution.

When I first told you about my new year resolution, the goal was to do weekly updates on my progress of getting healthy and losing.  Obviously that didn’t happen.  I kept telling myself that I would do an update after a new goal was reached and kept pushing it to the next goal.  But now I am ready!

Originally, I had 3 smaller goals within my one big goal of getting healthy and losing weight.

  1. Lose 5 pounds
  2. Break my coffee habit
  3. Stop eating junk food every night

I am happy to say that I have accomplished all 3!  I have not had coffee since January 5th.  I had headaches for about 4 days but after that, I was good.  With the nice weather, it is getting tough because I love iced coffee, but I haven’t given in yet!

I have also stopped eating junk food every night.  I allow myself no more than 2 nights a week where I will have a small snack.

And finally, my best accomplishment yet…I have lost 21 pounds as of today!  To do it, I changed my eating habits.  Quitting coffee helped a lot because I am not using a ton of sugar or flavored creamer anymore.  Of course not eating junk food every night helps too.  I also make a weekly meal plan.  That makes a huge difference!  (Check out my Healthy Eating Pinterest board).  I eat a lot of quinoa as well as lots of fruit and veggies and cut down on the carbs.

I exercise every single day.  I have done T25, both the alpha and beta levels.  I have just begun gamma and man is it tough!  But it is a great workout!  I also throw in a lot of Jillian Michaels workouts.  I don’t do the same workout two days in a row and that keeps me from getting bored.

My next (sort of) small goal run another 5K.  Now that the weather is nicer, I am going to try and find the time to get out and start running.  I am not sure when, but I’ll figure it out.

So that’s the update.  I am so happy I have stuck with it!  Only 9 more pounds to go and I reach my goal.  That will be my next update :).
