Homemade Ranch Dressing

Making my own salad dressing is not something that has ever crossed my mind. It is much easier, and sometimes cheaper, to just buy a bottle of it. For some reason though, it dawned on me that I needed to try and make my own ranch dressing. Once again, this blog is all about trying new things! I have a weakness for ranch dressing. Especially when it comes to dipping my French fries in it. My all-time favorite is the Outback ranch dressing. There are a number of copycat recipes out there that I need to try, like this one by Macaroni and Cheesecake.

Matt and I had our friends Al and Andrea (check out her amazing blog!) over for dinner last weekend and I thought this was the perfect time to make it. I found a super easy ranch dressing recipe by Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, on the Food Network website. Other than the chopping of the herbs (for me anyway), this dressing comes together very quickly!

Look at that wonderful combination of herbs – dill, chives and parsley.  My house smelled amazing!

I will never buy a bottle of ranch dressing ever again. That is how good this is! Sure, it is pretty fattening when you consider the ingredients that are in it, but it is homemade and you know that it has simple ingredients in it with nothing crazy you can’t pronounce.  And it is ok to splurge once in a while as long as it is in moderation, right?  I am sure you can easily modify it to be a much healthier version.  Maybe I will try that next time :).
