Last week, I wrapped up my post on carrot pineapple banana bread by saying that I really hope Averie Cooks continues the banana bread fest. As soon as I hit “publish” on that post, I went to her blog and there it was…Banana Bread Brownies! How is that possible?! I have never heard of such a recipe but mother-in-law said she has made them before. I had these brownies on my mind all week. I couldn’t wait to make them but having to go to work kept getting in the way
. Finally, I had some free time! As I have mentioned before, this recipe is similar to all of the previous banana bread recipes. I love how easy it comes together, throwing everything in one bowl.

With a little taste of the batter, I could tell they would be amazing! The banana almost takes on a different flavor, if that makes sense.
And of course you must have a glaze. This is a vanilla caramel glaze, the same one used on the apple and banana bundt cake. I just drizzled it on top of the brownies before they were cut. I let it sit for a little while so the glaze could harden a bit. This made it easy to cut without making a mess of the glaze.
One word for these brownies…wow! I was a little skeptical of banana in brownies. But I thought this about some previous banana bread recipes and I have been wrong each time…which is a good thing! I cut up these brownies into bite size pieces, just because I felt like it. It’s all about portion control.
I can’t believe how much I have been using bananas to bake these past few weeks. I still can’t bring myself to eat just a banana on its own. It needs to be mashed up and added to other delicious ingredients, say chocolate. Then I will eat it!

So glad you enjoyed the brownies – and yes, the banana takes on almost a new flavor but one of the simplest and easiest desserts is a frozen banana dipped in chocolate and anything chocolate + bananas is such a great combo, so I knew it would work in brownies
Glad you’re a believer, too! Thanks for linking back!
